ah, summer -- I vowed to myself that I'd actually take time off so this was the first time since starting BNP that I was able to take a vacation! 

So the personal projects right now are slim,

just as I wanted, but here's what I have been working on.

FIGHT DESIGN

So, it was time to return back to some good ol' sword fighting, aaand what better way than to work on some swashbuckling!?!

We're in our last big push before tech begins for Fury Theatre & Bad-Ass Babes production of "Nobody's Wench" -- a collection of six original short plays featuring women pirates. I'm the choreographer for two of the shows

 

• Proven -- featuring the story of Ching Shih (you know her, she's the Chinese Pirate Queen from Prates of the Caribbean 3) & her son/lover, Cheung.

Just like a pirate, I've combined a few different elements of Chinese fight styles & mashed it into a 'piratical' feel --

 *Sabre  *Scimitar  *Spear vs. sword/unarmed  

*Suai Jiao, Wushu, & others  

*plus the ever-popular (not really) use of a birdcage &

a sash as weapons...Intrigued?

 

• Privateers -- featuring the story of Jeanne de Clisson, a woman turned pirate (er, legal privateer) who decides to behead every frenchman she can. Alright, so she does this because the french beheaded her husband...

Anyway, here's how the fight was scripted, "This fight should be pretty awesome & pretty sexy."
